About me
I love life, adventure, peace, and community. I’m curious. I love to learn, create, and discover. I’m grateful for so many wonderful people in my life.
There’s a good chance you’ll find me outdoors, at the beach or in the mountains——traveling, exercising, or just taking a stroll. Let’s take a walk together and discover what life can be.
About my work
I work to discover the secrets of the universe——and often find fun applications along the way.
My expertise in theoretical physics spans quantum and classical stochastic processes, nonequilibrium thermodynamics, and the physics of information. I'm currently obsessing over whether sufficiently intelligent agents converge to universal representations of the world, and the implications for human-AI relations.
Over the years, I've discovered some surprising and useful things, including:
The ultimate limit of learning
The existence of fraudulent white noise
A fundamental tradeoff between error and dissipation in computation
How to analyze arbitrary functions of nondiagonalizable operators
Thermodynamic law beyond the jurisdiction of the second law
A revised exchange rate between energy and information
The energetic value of a quantum pattern
